Montana Coverage Matters

While elected officials in Washington DC and Helena debate the future of our health care system, the voices and stories of Montanans are more important than ever.

Access to affordable health insurance and health care matters to Montana.

More than 100,000 Montanans, one out of every ten of us, now has health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace or expanded Montana Medicaid. But when you include those who are covered by traditional Medicaid, Healthy Montana Kids, and Medicare, half of our state is covered by these health insurance programs. We are talking about low-income seniors, people with disabilities, low and moderate income kids, and older Montanans – all of whom will be impacted by changes to health reform under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The ACA was not perfect, but any changes to health reform have high stakes for one out of every two Montanans. Big changes may be coming to our health system and it is more important than ever to tell the story of why Montana Coverage Matters.
